Project Details
It’s been 25 years since Guy Manning released his critically acclaimed debut album, Tall Stories For Small Children. Following 14 further solo albums and numerous contributions to the musical projects, he is back with a very special, first-time-on-vinyl, 25th Anniversary edition, remastered by the legendary Sean Timms (Unitopia, Southern Empire). This edition comes with the 2010 bonus track, The Willow And The Pine and two original versions of tracks, Clocks and In Swingtime. Whilst these were on later albums, they were originally recorded 1999 for Tall Stories and are worthy of inclusion on this exclusive vinyl package.
Tarkus Magazine described Guy’s work as : “…something epic, romantic, exciting, atmospheric, half-acoustic, meditative, and melancholic…” This album has all that in spades, remarkable for a first foray. It still has astonishing appeal and it is as fresh as the day it was conceived. Packed full of ideas from various eras harking back to the golden era of symphonic progressive rock in the 70’s, progressing through some neo-prog influences of the 80’s and 90’s, and it even has a tinge of the Canterbury Scene with rhythmic folk overtones.
This will be a very limited vinyl run and a strictly one-off pressing in this format, a double LP in a 5mm wide spine sleeve and accompanied by an insert. Over 80 minutes of memorable progressive rock covering themes from all eras from the last half century.
