Project Details

London power-punk specialists Alien Chicks announce debut EP ‘Indulging The Mobs’ set for release July 18th via Hideous Mink Records (Opus Kink, Fake Turins, Black Bordello) & SO Recordings (Enter Shikari, Deadletter, Big Special).

Fresh from supporting English Teacher on their extensive UK tour, the feisty, fun and groove-infused trio have developed a staunch grassroots following over the last 18 months. Sold-out London headliners at The Lexington and The 100 Club, a largely sold-out February UK headline tour and slots with Lambrini Girls, Fat Dog, Opus Kink and Warmduscher have reinforced their addictively energetic live reputation. The band also have a major headline show at Moth Club slated for this summer, before a slew of festival appearances in the UK and the Netherlands (incl. Y Not, The Great Escape, Misty Fields).

With widespread support bubbling throughout the BBC Radio 1 (Jack Saunders, Arielle Free, Amy Lamé), BBC 6 Music (Steve Lamacq, Tom Robinson) and Radio X (John Kennedy) airwaves, as well as tastemaker approval from the likes of The Independent and DIY Magazine, Alien Chicks and their blend of surrealist social commentary are primed for a milestone moment with the forthcoming arrival of their debut EP.

Detailing their EP lead single, the group explained: “‘Steve Buscemi is a tongue-in-cheek satire of Joe’s everyday frustrations that lyrically was written as a joke (“you’ll get flamed like bread in a toaster”) and musically was written to explore rap in our sound. It quickly became a crowd favourite and we love how it’s been shaped by the crowd’s live response. We hope that our whole EP shows how much we value our live gigs and the people who make them so energetic. The EP title ‘Indulging The Mobs’ is a nod to that and so is the EP artwork. We want people to feel involved in what we’re doing and care about it as much as we do.”

Alien Chicks’ ‘Steve Buscemi’ is out now via Hideous Mink Records and SO Recordings and available on all digital platforms.
